Kingsport man, Joshua Morrison, charged with filing false rape report

While I am glad that this claim turned out to be false, I would like to understand why they named the "victim" of a possible sexual assault? Even after it is proven women file a false accusation, they more often than not retain their anonymity. Sometimes they are still referred to as the "victim." The double standard is unacceptable. In contrast, every false claim of rape by a man on this site names him in the news article. And none refer to him as a "victim."

We will provide follow-ups regarding sentencing, when available.

Kinsport man, Joshua Morrison, filed false rape accusation.

A Kingsport man falsely reported a rape to authorities, police said.

Johnson City police said Joshua Morrison, 30, 227 W. Carters Valley Road, Kingsport, reported a rape to them Saturday. The following investigation led police to think Morrison was lying about the rape.

He was charged with filing a false police report. He was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

His hearing was scheduled for Monday in Sessions Court.

This man should not be referred to as a victim. It is extremely unlikely that police would charge him with this unless they had iron clad evidence that he was lying. The authorities very often allow false reporting to go unpunished.

Man or woman, those who falsely accuse of rape must be held accountable.

Being a male and the victim of a real rape, Id like to spend a few minutes educating this fake victim, along with other false rape accusers and false accusers in general. Falsely accusing anyone of rape or any other crime is not a joke, it is a real crime.

Isn't it nuts? Why would anybody do something this stupid? There are some incredibly vile people out there who will do anything for attention. Often it's a woman for this particular crime, but sometimes it's a man. Always it is totally unacceptable.

I do sympathize with the argument that if this had been a woman, the reporting might have been different -- but the answer is to get just as tough on women who falsely accuse, not to go easy on the man.

Let's keep track of this one please, to see if he gets punished worse than when a woman lies.

No, it doesn't Sonja.

they may have published his address to test and see if he will be chased down by an angry fascist mob, or even to encourage one, like what happens to alleged male rapists.

Another reason to keep an eye on this one.

You know what you dont know the person who made the claim and you dont know if this person was actually raped maybe he was and maybe he was in distress because of it and got his facts mixed up but nonetheless you are not God and should not judge another person only God judges me. And by the way this is the person who report the false rape charges as you said and was actually raped despite the evidence so next time back up your statements have a good day.
