Sexual assault report was false

Note that a third party reported this. The second report tells of a man entering with an edged weapon.

The Lambton OPP Crime Unit has determined that a sexual assault reported to have occurred at a Point Edward hotel room in July was false. Investigation determined that the original report was made to police by a third party, and not by the alleged victim — a 25-year-old woman— and that no sexual assault actually occurred. The woman will not face charges and the matter is considered closed.

OPP say sexual assault report was false

The Lambton OPP Crime Unit has determined that a sexual assault reported at a Point Edward hotel room on July 15 was false.

Officers received an allegation on Aug. 25 an unknown male assailant with an edged weapon had entered a hotel room through a door left ajar.

The assailant allegedly committed a sexual assault on the lone 25-year-old female occupant.
Police say a thorough investigation has determined that no sexual assault took place.

Investigation determined that the original report was made to police by a third party and not by the alleged victim. Under the circumstances, the 25-year-old woman will not face a charge of Public Mischief.

OPP say the investigation into the incident is considered closed.
